ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work is to perform different types of pushover analysis to a 9- storey Moment Resisting Frame. The significant differences between variant seismic loading and invariant seismic loadings are investigated by the comparison of the analysis results. Analysis results of five different FEMA-356 load patterns, used in Pushover Analysis, are compared with Modal Pushover Analysis (MPA) (Chopra, Goel, 200 1) and Incremental Response Spectrum Analysis (IRS A)(Aydinoglu, 2003); also adaptive load distribution mentioned in FEMA-356 is calculated by the special case of Incremental Response Spectrum Analysis (IRSA)(Aydinoğlu, 2003). For convenience, a 9-storey Benchmark Steel Moment Resisting Building from SAC project is used for the analysis, and equivalent displacement method is used for performance evaluation.
