Research

Project Involvement

Consultancy: Survey for Social Vulnerability Analysis in the scope of Megacity Indicator System for Disaster Risk Management, 2014, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
Team Member: Megacity Indicator System for Disaster Risk Management, 2009-2012, implemented by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in coordination with Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, Karlsruhe Teknoloji Enstitüsü, Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative.
Team Member: Coordination of the creation / adaptation of classroom activities for elementary schools on natural disasters, 2004 – 2005, as part of the project entitled “Basic Disaster Awareness in Schools in Turkey” with Disaster Preparedness Education Unit (AHEB), KOERI, – in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Education
Team Leader: Research on non-structural risk identification in the museums of Istanbul, 2003 – 2004, project granted by Provention Consortium
Team Member: of the AHEB team engaged in researching and developing educational materials for “Non-Structural Mitigation for home, school and workplaces” and “Structural Awareness for Seismic Safety” targeting polytechnic high school teachers, handymen and public, 2002 – 2003 – projects by Disaster Preparedness Education Program with consultancy of professors and researchers from Department of Earthquake Engineering.
Design and Production: Hands-on models for conveying science and risk mitigation concepts to both adults and children and tabletop models explaining non-structural mitigation, 2001 – 2002.
